Description of the assignment

In order to support our continued growth in the UK we are looking to recruit a Graduate Business Engineer in our Camberley Office.

The successful candidate would be accountable for securing work through the submission of high-quality ground improvement solutions and supporting the delivery of the projects during pre-construction. Competitive proposals are delivered to the customer in a manner consistent with the business strategy and procedures.

Key Tasks

  • Actively involved and / or lead the bid process to ensure that tender deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner. Activities to include the following:
  • Review or assist senior engineer in reviewing tender documents (drawings, specifications, site investigation, and client requirements) and submission requirements, ensuring we evaluate all relevant information in the bid process.
  • Assist in the preparation of preliminary ground improvement designs and design documents during the pre-construction phase, involving the analysis civil & structural information.
  • Assist in developing innovative solutions and identifying possible projects risks.
  • Ensure that the correct methods, outputs and plant/resources are selected to deliver the solution, ensuring that project risks are adequately addressed.
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of tender price schedules in accordance with the pricing strategy and risk assessments. Ensure that cost plans are accurate and reflect the project requirements and risk profile.
  • Ensure accurate sales pipeline and reporting using CRM (Salesforce). 
  • Ensure effective communication with customers during and after the bid process to maximise our opportunities and to build long term relationships and encourage repeat work.
  • Provide considered responses to customer questions including post tender queries.
  • Ensure that the project operation and commercial teams have received an effective handover of bid documentation.
  • Manage customer contact, present tender proposals to customers and contribute to customer meetings during the tender process.
  • Ensure compliance with business strategy and authority levels.
  • Support the delivery teams, providing review of pre-construction & technical information , including visits to site and meetings with customers.
  • Continued learning and development of personal expertise of ground engineering, both technically and in using the latest technologies and standards.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to grow our relationships with key customers:
  • Contact key customers and build relationships.
  • Contribute to the development of our marketing material including brochures, websites and data sheets.
  • Organise and attend corporate events.
  • Support award entries
  • Ensure a relentless focus on safety – WORKSAFE HOMESAFE.

Profile

A degree in a relevant subject.

The role requires experience and  technical/engineering knowledge of ground engineering processes.

The individual should be customer centric and flexible in approach, they will have the strategic and creative insight to understand the range of opportunities in invitations to tender and be willing to challenge the norm. The individual will know ‘what good looks like’ in bid submissions and work winning and have hands on experience of leading technical aspects of work-winning bids in a timely manner.

The individual will be both focussed and thorough and have the gravitas and professional credibility to advise senior management when something needs immediate redress together with the tenacity and drive to ensure that the necessary action is taken. 

The individual can expect as part of their training to spent a portion of their time on-site assisting in the delivery and coordination of on-going projects. It’s fundamental to Menard that all engineers be provided with the skills and experience in both technical and operational delivery.

The individual should have a desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer and the ground engineering business.

Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are necessary. Knowledge of AutoCAD would be advantageous.

Full UK Driving Licence is required.
