SCOPE OF THE POSITION

This contract role provides essential operational support during a period of high HR activity. Reporting to the VP, HR, you will ensure the smooth and consistent delivery of core HR operations while supporting the execution of a small number of priority initiatives. This role is best suited for someone who enjoys a hands on diverse role, who has the ability to contribute to ongoing improvements and contributing to broader improvement efforts where needed.

 

Role Summary

  • 6-month contract to provide coverage during parental leave (2 months) and support a critical period of HR activity
  • Acts as a trusted right-hand partner to the VP, HR, balancing day-to-day operations with strategic project delivery
  • Ensures continuity, consistency, and execution across key HR programs, systems, and initiatives during a high-demand period
     

ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

 

HR Operations (Core Focus)

Maintain and execute core HR operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness:

  • HCM updates, approvals, and system integrity
  • HR reporting for internal and external needs
  • Provide consistent, high-quality support across the employee lifecycle
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with internal policies and applicable legislation
  • Act as a dependable escalation point for operational HR queries, resolving issues efficiently and pragmatically

HR Projects & Transformation

Support the execution of key HR initiatives already in progress including:

  • Compensation framework rollout
  • Canadian Benefits Plan to market
    Rebranding
  • HR internal audit preparation and participation
  • Lead eNPS survey rollout and development of key insights and communication
  • HCM module configuration & buildout (e.g., compensation)
  • Safety system integration (BiS)
  • Contribute to project delivery by tracking actions, co-ordinating inputs and ensuring timelines are maintained.
  • Identify practical process improvements and support implementation where feasible withing contracted period
  • Provide input to change activities, with a focus on supporting adoption and maintaining continuity
     

Stakeholder & Team Enablement

  • Work closely with the VP, HR (primary reporting line) & HR team to ensure alignment and continuity during the leave coverage period.  
  • Participate in structured knowledge transfer and ensure key processes are well understood and maintained
  • Provide responsive, practical support to stakeholders across the business

Profile

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business or related field
  • CPHR designation (advantageous)

Experience

Progressive HR experience, with a solid foundation in HR generalist operations including:

  • HR operations and HRIS management (Bamboo HR advantageous)
  • Project delivery or transformation initiatives
  • Exposure to compensation, reporting, and compliance
  • HRBP and/or broad generalist roles
  • Experience working in fast-paced, multi-priority environments
  • Experience supporting or leading HR projects across multiple geographies
     

Key Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong operational execution and attention to detail, with ability to step in, assess quickly and maintain continuity, without overcomplicating existing processes.
  • Problem-solving mindset with focus on simplification, efficiency and systems thinking
  • Confident working in HR systems (BambooHR experience preferred), but other systems experience valued
  • Strong analytical and reporting capability
  • Excellent service oriented and stakeholder management mindset to support effective communication to support day-to-day activities, and exposure to change management principles and practices
  • High accountability and ability to work independently
  • Experience working in natural resource or adjacent industries with field based roles advantageous
