Description of the assignment

BA Blacktop is seeking a dedicated professional with a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and quality excellence. As the Environmental & Quality Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing our Environmental Management System (EMS) and Quality Management System (QMS), helping ensure the BA Blacktop Group of Companies maintains compliance and continuously meets the standards required for ISO certification.


KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Conduct internal audits of the Integrated Management System (IMS) for ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment), and ISO 45001 (health & safety), and support external certification audits.

  • Develop, implement, and continually improve the company’s quality, environmental, ensuring compliance with international standards.

  • Conduct and analyze supplier and subcontractor performance evaluations.

  • Develop and maintain quality and environmental statistics (e.g., non-conformances, opportunities for improvement, client satisfaction survey results, recycling performance, Greenhouse Gas Emission, etc. (GHG) and present them to management for decision-making.

  • Facilitate client satisfaction survey process.

  • Control, maintain and update documents and record management systems to ensure accessibility, accurate version control, and compliance with ISO requirements.

  • Identify applicable legal and regulatory requirements related to environment and coordinate compliance evaluations.

  • Plan and deliver employee onboarding and training sessions on IMS requirements, environmental and quality topics, and annual Environment Day.

  • Lead or participate in site inspections, aspect and impact assessments, operational control reviews, and emergency preparedness exercises.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS 


Essential Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Environment, Administration or similar;

  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role and ISO 9001 and/or 14001

  • Experience conducting internal audits and managing compliance programs.

  • ISO 9001 and/or 14001 internal Auditor training

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Strong skills in writing and making presentations

  • Strong skills in data analysis

  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Detailed individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to complete thorough statistical analysis


Desirable Qualifications



  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role

  • Lead auditor training is considered an asset.

  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, or manufacturing industries.

  • Ability to use Microsoft PowerQuery, Microsoft PowerBI, Power Automate

  • A valid driver’s license and ability to visit different company sites.


ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ON THE ROLE


Location: North Vancouver, BC


Salary: $54,000 - $68,000 (CAD), based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and professional background.
