To lead the work winning teams and support the delivery of projects in the region, with a focus on customer satisfaction. Ensure that we meet our customers’ expectations whilst securing a pipeline of work in line with our strategy and deliver industry leading margins whilst maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Manage our business development and marketing activities at a strategic level within the SMT.

 

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for work winning activities in the region in line with the business strategy and responsible for the financial performance of the contracts executed in the regions.
  • Ensure tenders are submitted in a timely manner and that they have been fully evaluated technically and commercially.
  • Oversee and/or interrogate design options and ‘value’ solutions, and if appropriate, identify the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles.
  • Liaise with other regional managers to ensure that design and bid resources are managed effectively across the UK with a focus on our customers’ needs and our business strategic aims.
  • Ensure that there is a customer focus from initial enquiry, through to project handover, project delivery and account settlement.
  • Ensure that there is a relentless drive to improve contract margins through design optimisation and cost management.
  • Ensure that the whole customer team in the region is operating with a single goal of achieving excellence and customer satisfaction. • Develop the strategic plan for the region, which will support the business growth and strategic development.
  • Ensure that your regional approach is in line with the overall business governance (design, pricing, operationally and commercially) as determined by the senior management team.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and ensure clear lines of communication within the team.
  • Maintain and manage our marketing and business development plan, ensuring it meets the strategic goals of the business, to include corporate entertainment, site demonstrations, Continuous Professional Development seminars, roadshows, exhibitions/conferences and press coverage.
  • Ensure that social media coverage is maintained, to include advertising, Linked In, the Website, brochures, datasheets and award entries.
  • To exercise the skills of measurement and valuation to maximise value and minimise cost within the terms of the contract and sub-contracts applicable to each project.
  • Be aware of industry best practice and innovation and ensure that a culture of innovation and continuous improvement is engrained in the regional team.

Profile

The role requires a proven track record in business development, membership of a relevant professional body and a valid CSCS card.

The role requires experience in, and a good working knowledge of ground engineering processes. The individual will be both focussed and thorough and have the gravitas and professional credibility to advise customers in an authoritative manner on solutions offered by Ground Engineering.

The individual will require exceptional interpersonal and communication skills coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure and be customer centric in approach, with the ability to recognise potential opportunities in invitations to tender.

The ability to lead and manage business development activity involving representatives across the business, is also a requirement.

The individual should have a desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer and the ground engineering business.
