Description of the assignment

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of complex and high-value geotechnical construction projects throughout Western Canada. This role leads projects from tender review through project closeout while ensuring safety, quality, profitability and client satisfaction. 

Key Responsabilities

Project Management & Execution
Manage multiple geotechnical and ground improvement projects simultaneously.
Lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling and execution activities.
Review contract documents, technical specifications and tender requirements.
Develop project execution strategies and resource plans.
Monitor project performance, including schedule, quality, cost and risk.
Identify and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Financial & Contract Management
Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
Review project profitability and margins throughout execution.
Manage progress billings and payment collections.
Evaluate change orders, claims and contractual risks.
Negotiate commercial matters with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
Support estimating and bid review processes.
Client Relations & Business Development
Act as the primary point of contact for clients during project execution.
Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, consultants and contractors.
Support regional business development initiatives.
Participate in client meetings, presentations and industry networking activities.
Identify opportunities for future work and strategic growth.
Field Operations Leadership
Coordinate project teams, superintendents, engineers and subcontractors.
Support field operations and provide technical guidance.
Conduct site visits and project reviews.
Ensure resources, equipment and materials are available when required.
Promote collaboration across project stakeholders.
Health, Safety & Environmental Leadership
Champion Menard Canada's safety culture.
Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company policies.
Participate in risk assessments and project-specific safety planning.
Support incident investigations and corrective actions.
Promote continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance.
Technical Excellence & Innovation
Provide expertise in geotechnical construction and ground improvement technologies.
Review technical proposals and construction methodologies.
Support value engineering initiatives.
Contribute to lessons learned and operational best practices.
Collaborate with engineering and design teams on complex projects.
Leadership & Team Development
Mentor Project Managers, Project Coordinators and Engineers-in-Training.
Support employee development and succession planning initiatives.
Foster collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
Contribute to recruiting and onboarding efforts for the Western Canada region.

Profile

Qualifications
 
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering or a related discipline.

Professional Designation

Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia or eligible for registration with EGBC.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction project management.
  • Minimum 5 years managing geotechnical, foundation, ground improvement or heavy civil projects.
  • Proven track record managing projects exceeding $5M-$20M+ in value.
  • Experience working with public and private sector clients.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
