NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department is fast growing with hybrid opportunities available up and down the country. We're striving to create a multidisciplinary team to offer our clients the best range of talent.

 

Working directly for Nuvia, we are looking for an established Design Manager to support one of our key clients on a Nuclear Marine project. This will be an embedded opportunity where you will represent Nuvia throughout the project duration. This opportunity is remote with occasional site visit to the South Coast and can be worked on a staff or contracted basis.

 

As the Design Manager your role will be to manage the delivery and co-ordinate the System Engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule, and cost. Responsible for managing the technical aspects of the engineering packages from identification of the need, through to handover for a Nuclear Marine project.

 

As the Design Manager you will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop, lead, manage and co-ordinate the technical design packages agreeing project related objectives, managing performance of all Engineering and Design resource, and making appropriate technical management decisions.
  • Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget.
  • Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and leading the project’s technical planning process.
  • Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
  • Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.

Profile

To be considered for the Design Manager role you should have the following Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree or above in an Engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer.
  • Experienced in technical management of large scale and complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Good understanding of engineering design and safety practice including H&S and quality.
  • Experienced in the design support to construction, operation, refit/repair, or nuclear facilities and/or nuclear submarines.
  • Good leadership and project management skills.
